# About Evalyn

Evalyn helps teams understand what happens in customer conversations and decide what to do next. We combine call analysis with human review, then turn the useful findings into coaching, training, and clearer ways of working.

Our starting point is your own standard for a good interaction. A score should be something a manager can examine, question, and use, not a number that appears without context.

## What we work on

- **Call analysis.** Review conversations against the steps and language your team expects, with people checking the scoring and handling appeals.
- **Training.** Turn recurring gaps into focused coaching, short lessons, reflection, and role practice.
- **Mystery shopping.** Look at phone and in-person experiences from a customer's perspective, using the questions that matter to your operation.
- **Operational AI tools.** Build practical, AI-native workflows for teams with complex information to work through, including utility operations. The scope depends on the team's procedures and needs.

We work with self-storage teams and apply the same careful, standards-led approach to other frontline environments. Our [industry pages](/industries.md) describe some of those conversations in more detail.

## Our story

Evalyn began when Nikita's work in data analytics and AI tools caught the attention of customer-experience expert Dan Cosgrove. Dan's son shared one of Nikita's reports with him, and the two connected over the idea of combining modern AI with established mystery-shopping methods. Early work included automated report generation and AI survey assistants.

## The founders

Nikita Tkachenko is Evalyn's CTO and co-founder, based in San Francisco. He builds applied AI systems that help people interpret data and make decisions, drawing on behavioral economics and AI engineering. He holds an MS in International Development Economics from the University of San Francisco and has taught graduate-level courses there and at Golden Gate University. His book, *Data Insight Foundations*, was published by Apress in 2025. His research includes a peer-reviewed study in *PNAS Nexus* on human behavior across five countries.

Dan Cosgrove brings more than 44 years of experience in customer experience and mystery shopping. His pioneering work in the field dates to 1954. He uses that experience to guide Evalyn's approach to customer research and service quality.

You can meet the team on the [home page](/#about) and read [client stories](/testimonials.md) to see examples of the work in context.

## What guides us

Our mission is to use scientific research and modern AI to help people do more meaningful work. We value practical research, clear communication, and giving teams useful ways to act on what they learn. Security is part of that commitment: we protect client information through careful access controls, secure transfer methods, and documented operating practices.

The name Evalyn comes from *evaluate*, reflecting our focus on analysis and continuous improvement in customer experience.

## Start a conversation

If you have a call you'd like us to review, [start with the free call review](/free.md). We first arrange an NDA and a secure way to share the recording. You can also [tell us about your team's needs](/contact.md), whether the question is call quality, training, mystery shopping, or a new operational workflow.
